It is often said that the secret of success for any business is location and this is perhaps what makes this island state so successful. An island city state, south of the Malay peninsula, Singapore enjoys a unique position for one of the world's major trade routes. Location isn't everything of course and it is to British colonial influences in the 19th century that the modern city owes much of its current standing on the business world stage.

Rated as the world's most business-friendly economy, Singapore enjoys an excellent reputation for conducting efficient business and this is due in no small part to the high standard of business hotels on the island.

Many of the business hotels are located in and around the central business district of the city. An amalgam of dynamic post-modern architecture, the central business district has seen rapid growth in the last decades and plans are afoot for the most ambitious office development to date, the Marina Bay Financial Centre, with the first phase due for completion in 2010.

Although the new and dramatic cityscape of the main business district has replaced many of the original colonial style properties and buildings, the area offers recreational space, gardens and the visitor attraction of Raffles Square. Also within the central business district is the famous colonial style landmark which is the Fullerton Hotel.

Business hotels Singapore has to offer are designed specifically with the corporate traveler in mind. Convenient for the city’s main financial and commercial areas, they offer easy access for those with work to attend in the city. The business hotels also contain a wealth of dedicated support services and facilities within the hotel to allow guests round the clock business support.

24 hour business centers are common within the hotels and offer facilities such as workstations with internet connectivity, computers and mobile phones for hire, and also fax, photocopying, and printing equipment. Translation, secretarial, and courier services are generally available and day and night concierge services are in hand to deal with any enquiries.

Facilities extend to the rooms and suites of Singapore's business hotels too, often incorporating a work desk with data ports, wireless internet connectivity, dual-line direct-dial telephones with voicemail capability, and state of the art televisions with international news and business channels. Many rooms also have an in-room safe large enough to store a laptop.

These hotels are also mindful of the need for leisure time too and will often have a wealth of leisure options for that much needed break from business. Swimming pools are of course common as are spa facilities where guests can indulge in a massage, sauna or steam bath. Often, a fitness suite is available, equipped with the latest in fitness machines and TV screens. Larger hotels may have additional sports options.

Business hotels in Singapore will also have that all important feature of a lounge or dining area in which guests can meet colleagues for informal meetings over drinks or lunch. Fine dining environments are also an option where local favorites such as Chinese, and Indian cuisine will be on offer as well as popular European dishes. Further leisure options such as traditional bars, and chic modern lounges, often with musical accompaniment, are commonplace.
